Description: In an effort identify land suitable for agriculture, the Departments of Natural Resources and Energy Development(DNRED)and Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (DAAF) undertook a project to use soil data collected by DNRED to arrive at the classification based upon criteria established by the University of Guelph (attached). The criteria to convert the existing DNRED soil data into these classes were established by a joint project between DNRED's Forest Management Group and DAAF's Agriculture specialists (see attached spreadsheet). Any areas that fell within known waterbodies were then removed. Finally any polygon less than 100 m2 were eliminated from the final dataset.Data created April 2021.
