description: This map was created by the Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development; it depicts areas of potential maple tree abundance on both Crown and privately-owned land. Private industrial freehold land is not included. The taps per hectare classifications have been determined by remote sensing techniques (LiDAR) using mapped forest inventories and have not been verified on the ground. Harvest treatments and road access may have occurred since the inventory was mapped. Both sugar maple and red maple have been included in the classification.
